Corvette recall - Instant Drop top
Corvette recall - Instant Drop top
I think this recall is funny but it is serious.
I would watch out if you are behind one of these cars. Beware, the roof fly's off.
"The Corvette's hard top is comprised of a magnesium frame and hard plastic roof panel and weighs between 5 and 10 pounds. The roof panel has blown off when adhesive that attaches the roof to a frame separates, GM spokesman Alan Adler said."

Its a sad commentary on American quality but no big news, we mostly all knew that anyway.

GM probably started this sport called 'spec racing' where people race
cars just based on specs.
ever work for GM? do you know how much crap (docs) you need to go
through and tests to get a part qualified? such meaningless process
and documents.
well sir, it worked on paper...
time to drill deep and wide.

And to think the vette starts at double what I paid for my MINI, and where is my roof? And there are those out there who have seen MINIs eat Vettes at the track
Guess that answers Clarkson's question about why there is a 100k dollar differeance between a Z06 and a 575.
Thanks for the heads up I'll be sure not to get behind any vettes for a while.

. I made no reference to MINI at all ... its not always wise to "fill in the blanks" when there is no inference. If I want quality I buy Toyota

Glad you find this subject amusing... Amazing what people find to be funny.
For those bashing the Corvette... I am amazed at the ignorance from so many, I would bet that those bashing them have never owned one or driven one, but I'm sure we will hear stories contrary to this..
I owned 3 corvettes.. 2 of them were Z06's. Never an issue with quality or reliability.
So GM now has a problem with an adhesive that it probably bought from one of its many vendors.. so GM and the vette are worthless because of a glue failure. what am amazing analysys.
The only reason I gave up on vettes was headroom... could not get in with a helmet.. so why own a factory race car when you can't exercise it properly.
For those who think the vette loses to a mini in a race... wishful thinking..
Maybe on a ultra tight auto-x... on a real track... dream on.
How about Nurburing.. where the Z06 made the top ten fastest lap times... eighth I believe... including all the Ferraris, Lambo, Porsches... money no object cars...
Funny.. don't think there was a mini on that list.
Quite an accomplishment for a $50K car... but we must not speak of that here.. must we...
