Im going to change my head gasket in my r53 . There's no markings to indicate which side is up and which side go down ( to block ) . There's an obvious difference in the holes along one side vs the other . Could use some advice

 

should only go on one way with the dowel pins. Then the smaller holes in the gasket should line up with the holes in the block

 

Dowel lines up either way and the holes on the block are identical on the top and bottom however as you can see one side of the gasket has more holes . I found a video @18:53 that shows a block with the gasket so problem solved but strange the way the holes are different
