Yesterday I took my mini to garage to change the head gasket
I found double head gasket in my mini any one knows why there are double head gaskets?
Now it replaced by one head gasket is there any problem butting 1 instead of 2 head gasket?

Should only be one.....

2 = twice the chance to leak....

Sounds like the head might be slightly warped or something and they used the double-thickness of gasket to plug it perhaps... I'd have the garage check the egde for flatness since they have it apart...

That's a strange one???. I've never heard of double gasketing a head. I'm wondering if the head was shaved too much & that was a nincompoops way of lowering the compression. Before you reassemble that engine you need to determine why it was done. Don't just put it together without first having a competent machinist inspect the head & the top deck of the block.

I'm real curious to hear what you find.

Two head gaskets will do nothing but allow twice chance of leaking.

To check for warpping turn a steal-edge ruler or piece of glass on the edge and place them on the head. Make sure to check diagnally across the head as well as straight across. Use a torch on the otherside and see If there is light bleeding under the straight edge. If it is, then the head is warpped.

Lets hope is was a bloke with no mechanical skills.

I've heard of people using multiple gaskets to lower the compression ratio slightly, but it's a pretty backwards approach to the problem.

R u sure there was two gaskets ? Cus i just replaced mine and the factory one has two gaskets stock together. Its two thin gaskets connected together at 6 points i think. I think thats what you saw and calling it two gaskets. The new one came the same was my old one was , two thin gaskets.

Two separate gasket

not two thin gaskets
I don’t know why the previous owner put two head gasket.

Currently my mini is working fine after changing the head gasket set.

Is your engine a 1275 Metro lump or Mini? I found out the Metro engines head gasket in thicker than a mini one. This could be the reasoning behind it.
