Noisy AC Compressor

Hey guys and gals,
Its getting hotter outside, and today it rained so I couldn’t drive with the windows and the sunroof open so I turned on my AC to cool down, and now my ‘04 base sounds like a windup toy. I’m wondering if the compressor is on its way out because the whine scales with the rpm. My AC still gets cold but at low rpm it tends to get warmer. Does anyone have any ideas or experiences with this?

not much of a 1st gen guru, but I think you need to recharge the system. when you do that, make sure you add AC oil to lubricate the internal pistons of the compressor.
