Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
My r52 horn hasn't worked at all since I bought it used a few weeks ago. The person I bought it from told me that their mechanic had done some work on something (clutch IIRC), and hadn't hooked the horn up. I'm not sure where to start looking for the fix, and also haven't had a chance to check the fuses. Maybe I can look at them tomorrow.
Also it seems to me that my cruise control and volume controls don't work, so I'm assuming that they're related.
When they replaced the clutch. Did they plug the horns backup. You can see by popping the hood.

Thanks for the input. I just popped the hood, and I couldn't see anything wrong, but I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for. It did look like there was a missing connection on one side, but I'm almost positive that it was for the light. I'm assuming the horn is below the light? Here are some pics:
Left side, looks like everything's connected Right side, seems to be missing a connection?
For 2nd gen replacing horns was common.....not so for 1st gen. Mine are original......If memory serves the horns in 1st Gen are in series from pass side to dr side....if one side not connected I believe the other side will not work as well. Been a while since I've ever messed with them......
The socket circled is where the T10 bulb / socket for from marker ( parking ) light.....looks like they forgot to plug that in....
Just stumbled upon this thread about a horn hitch on the R52. Bummer, right? It’s like having a lead foot but no gas in the tank!
Air horns, huh? Well, that's an ear-catching suggestion! I mean, who wouldn’t want their ride to blast out like a big rig on the highway? But seriously, getting your horn back in action is crucial – it’s your voice on the road, letting others know you’re there or giving a friendly toot to your neighbor.
As for me, I’d say fixing the stock horn would be priority numero uno. Gotta keep it classic, am I right? But hey, if you’re feeling adventurous and wanna turn heads (and maybe startle a few pigeons!), air horns could be a fun mod to consider. Just be sure not to scare Granny when you pick her up for bingo!
