Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
Ok, folks. I need help or I'm going to go nuts. Attached are two photos of the same electrical connection. I just finished replacing the clutch/pressure plate, the passenger-side axle and the timing cover gaskets. I dropped the subframe to facilitate those repairs. I have everything reinstalled (clutch, trans, starter, subframe, suspension, etc.) but I have this one plug hanging centrally underneath and I cannot figure out where it goes. I thought it went to the oil pressure sensor on the filter housing but it does not fit. That obviously brings up another question in that I don't have an additional wire/plug for that sensor. Note that it's a three-wire plug with a locking tab on one side and it is wire-tied to the power steering fan plug and the smaller, lower plug that goes to the power steering pump. I'm about to go nuts not being to figure this out since this is the only thing keeping me from reinstalling the front end. WHO CAN HELP? Thanks.
Is your Mini equipped with Auto headlight leveling?
That little box attached to the left side on control arm just inside/in front of the inner left wheel.
Yes, it is but that headlight leveling sensor is already plugged in. This particular plug drops down underneath almost in the dead center of the subframe right by the power steering pump. The two connectors for the power steering pump are plugged in as is the power steering fan. The mystery connector (male plug) only has approx. one foot of wire slack (as I wrote above it's wire-tied to the smaller power steering pump and fan wires) but for the life of me I cannot find the plug for it. It stretches easily to the oil pump sensor receptacle (female receptacle) but they don't mate up. Color me f'ing frustrated particularly because I obviously had to unplug it somewhere. Thanks for the idea though.
I'm not too proud to fall on my sword here. The flipping plug went to the power steering fan which I had left on the shelf in my garage. Doh! doesn't even begin to cover it!!!
