System Lean - P2187

Hey all,

So my non-S R56 hatch is doing mini things again and it's really got me confused. It maintains solid power, though less than when I got it with 77k miles (just under 101k now), in the high rev range, but at idle it'll stumble and shake. Error code is that the system is lean. Last thing I fixed was engine misfires (bad valve cover gasket leaking oil into the spark plugs) and now it's got this. I genuinely feel like this must be a super simple thing that I'm overthinking or too unfamiliar with BMW motors to recognize as a fault, so here we go.

1. After doing research I found carbon buildup is notoriously bad on these engines, so I 3D printed a part to help walnut shell the intake valves and got to work pulling out the intake manifold. The result? Beautiful, shiny valves. I've seafoamed this a few times and noticed improvements, but I wasn't expecting the cleanliness I saw when I finally took the intake manifold out.

2. My fuel pressure guage was reading at just about 50 PSI on the shrader valve, pretty close to factory spec and very consistent despite the stumbling idle. Considering it was from harbor freight and leaking fuel out the pressure guage, I'd say that could reasonably account for the ~1 PSI difference than factory spec says they should be at.

3. While I had my fuel rail off I tried my best to clean out the injectors (9V battery to the injector to open the valve, and some squirts of carb cleaner).

4. New gaskets all around for the intake manifold, throttle body, and fuel injectors.

5. I sprayed carb cleaner on all noticeable vacuum lines in and around the intake manifold while the car was running to see if I could get the motor to rev out, but nothing.

6. New PCV valve (because I'm a neanderthal, as my dad says, and managed to break the 4 clips on top of it so I just ordered a new assembly since it was apart already)

I'm at a legitimate loss. I've been constantly trying to diagnose this problem for over a year and a half now, and I don't have BMW money to spare on dealership diagnostics. What are some other things I can check? I don't want to replace the HPFP and injectors if I don't have to, I'm about to check the ignition coil packs like I did with the injectors to see what the electrical resistance is, and if it's consistent across the board. I just don't know what else to look for.

And if you made it this far, thank you for at least hearing me out!
