R56 Shuts off while driving

Model: 2012 Mini Cooper R56
Miles: 88,000
Codes:
2BE9 (Cylinder injection shutdown: pressure too low in high-pressure system)
2C01 (High-pressure fuel, plausibility: pressure too low)

The car has shut off various times over the last 2,000 miles all while driving. The half illuminated CEL will come on and the engine will shut off. Pull over, try to restart and usually on the first try it is back up and running. One time it took 7 tries where it ran rough for a half second before shutting off.

Thought this was the dreaded HPFP issue, so I had that replaced under warranty at the dealer. Been driving for a few hundred miles after that with no issues, but just today it shut off again mid drive. It's throwing the same codes it was before I had the HPFP replaced, so makes me think it is the same issue, not a new one.

I was thinking about replacing the low pressure fuel pump, but wanted to see if anyone has any better ideas of what could be causing this. I'm new to this car as off 2,000 miles ago and man has it been a whirlwind of issues. Hoping to squash this and be a happy owner for awhile!

If you had the HPFP replaced at the dealer, and the problem resurfaced, I would call them up and tell them you're not happy with the replacement and the problem came back. Should still be a warranty on the replacement pump.

Well, I guess I'm not certain that is the cause of the problem... If it is the low pressure pump or fuel pressure sensor, then replacing the HPFP wouldn't help any

Here's my reasoning: Same two codes led to replacement of the HPFP last time. Why wouldn't the same codes lead to replacement this time? Just because it was replaced, doesn't mean the new one isn't faulty. If the pump was replaced with an OEM Mini pump, it has at least a two-year warranty. A call to the service advisor expressing your dissatisfaction should at least give them an opportunity to correct the situation. At worst, you're out a phone call.

Not a bad idea and I can try it on Monday. My guess is that they'll say, "well, it must not have been the hpfp, so you'll have to bring it back in for a diagnosis and we'll charge you $170 for that". I wonder if they will be able to correctly diagnose it based on the code alone as the issue only occurs very intermittently.
So my thought was that this community probably has just as good/better sense of what could be wrong then the mechanic.
