EML light flashing while shifting gears/ How durable are these cars?

Lucky for me, there's quite a few windy roads in my area , and I make the most of them. Minis don't have much power so uphill I'm pretty much to the floor always for 10-15 mins, and I run the gears till redline. Although I only go up these roads once every one or two weeks, I feel like I'm being almost abusive revving it that high and especially for example downshifting into second from third at 50+ mph to get more power. I know these cars aren't Hondas, but how much can this car handle? I understand hard driving will inevitably make parts wear faster, but is the car built to take it? I do wait till the engine is warm before any hard driving, and I keep it below the red. Also, sometimes I've noticed when shifting and accelerating hard, the EML light on the speedometer flashes very quickly for maybe less than half a second. Is this anything I should be worrying about? It doesn't happen with normal driving, or even merging onto the freeway. Only when I'm full throttle and running it till redline.

When you put your 15% pulley on, did you also put on colder spark plugs as recommended?

Any other mods?

Yes, I did, I'm using the JCW plugs, and I don't have any other mods other than the one ball mod, but the light was flashing even before I did that. I don't remember if this started happening after I did the pulley, the car seems to run fine though.

It could be the sign of a failing crank pulley as they all are going to fail. Go with the ATI damper when it does.
