EML Light after Traffic Jam?

I tried doing a search and didn't see anything quite like this.

I was in a pretty nasty traffic jam for about an hour last night; lots of stop and go. After about 45 minutes of this, my EML light came on. I know that's supposed to put it into "limp" mode, but once out of the jam my '06 JCW was just as peppy as ever, even with the light on. Once I got home, I turned it off and right back on, no EML.

So I have a few questions:

Is it normal for nasty stop and go traffic to cause the light to come on and not put it in limp mode? Also, is it ok to drive it with the EML on if there's no performance issues?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I was once in a parade and my car was kinda finiky with the stop and go and 5 mph. No EML though. Are you Auto or Standard?

I have the 6 speed manual. The only thing I can think of is that the car didn't like the frequent low RPMs associated with creeping along at 2-3 MPH, but isn't this something it should be able to handle without throwing a warning light?

Kinickie,

Same problem as me! 2006 JCW... EML light goes on every-now-and-then, usually when I park, no loss of power, and usually when being driven at low RPM's.
Have you researched this a bit more? I'm curious as well.
