HPFP Adaptor
HPFP Adaptor
Hi all,
Hoping someone could chime in and give me some much needed advice. The HPFP on my wife's 2013 Mini Cooper S failed over the weekend. The shop we brought it to is claiming that the only part they can find is $1400 and a week out. On top of this, they are claiming that they do not have the correct software to "reprogram" the car after installation. According to the research that I have done, I don't see why any programming would need to take place. Am I correct here?
I typically fix all of our vehicles myself but I am a little short on time so I figured I would let a local shop take care of the repair. After hearing this news from the shop today, I am considering taking on the job myself. I went on ECS and found a pump for $212 but they are saying that I need an electrical adapter as well. My problem is that I cannot seem to find any information online about this adapter and how to install it. Is it as simple as it looks or am I missing something? Links to both parts from ECS are below. Thank you in advance!

No reprogramming required. The HPFP operates on a closed loop system. The DME request the amount of fuel pressure required via PWM signal to the pump, then monitors rail pressure to adjust as required. The instructions for replacement of the pump are attached. I would probably clear the adaptations... but that's just me being picky.

I don't see any differences in the wiring diagram so I would say yes. Just match pin 1 to pin 1 on the connectors and splice the wires accordingly. I would either solder and heat shrink, or use an environmental splice and a heat gun so that corrosion doesn't cause an issue down the road.

Did you call the dealer to see if there is some sort of warranty that covers the pump?
I thought this pump is not prone to failure and more reliable that the Continental pump installed on the pre 2012s.
