Fuel Pump

I need some help. So I have a 2009 JCW Cooper and it is not my daily driver. I recently took it out for a weekend stroll to stretch her legs and noticed it was hard to start. The next time I took it out I didn't even use the Mini because it was spitting and sputtering. I knew the gas was old so I replaced the fuel filter, siphoned the old gas out and put new gas in. NO START. So I replaced the low pressure fuel pump. NO START. Checked to make sure the fuel pump relay was good and it was. Checked the voltage at the low pressure fuel pump and it was good. So now I am thinking it is the High Pressure Fuel Pump. Do this seem like the likely problem??? And why does amazon have a HPFP for $300 and when I go to Napa they want $1500 dollars. Is the one on Amazon bootleg? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the low pressure pump is pumping gas before spending money on HPFP. Proper install? Defective pump? Blown fuse? Several possibilities.

I've not replaced a fuel pump in so long I can't remember the specifics but there have been a number of posts on here in the past of similar situations.

HPFP prices went through the roof a few years ago probably due to warranty replacement scarcity and now rebuilt ones are showing up with iffy success rates.

First a disclaimer --- I have zero experience with the in-tank pump and filter. However, I've read that when changing either, it's necessary to prime the pump / line before final assembly. Otherwise, there will be no flow to the HPFP. Maybe disconnect the HPFP inlet line and verify flow? Be sure to have some kind of container to catch any gas.

Best of luck ---

ah bummer!
I just had mine replaced a few weeks ago.
The cheap pumps you are seeing on Amazon and Ebay are either knockoffs or remanufactured. After looking into purchasing one of the cheaper ones, I'm glad I didn't. from what I've read according to people who actually did buy one, they are prone to almost immediate failure. Some reports had them failing within seconds of install. Others lasted a bit longer, one went almost 200 miles before it crapped out!
I would suggest, like oldbrokenwind suggests, to make sure that its the pump first. there are some pretty simple tests. then order one from WMW or ECS or another vendor, it will be cheaper than Napa, OEM parts, and will have a new part warranty for a year.

+1 those cheaper ebay and amazon ones seem to have issues. Post #91
