New key fob . Not recognizing

New key fob . Not recognizing

Ordered a new key fob from a dealer . Ordered it to my vin# . All I can get is the key sign with the bar through it . Can’t get it to recognize it and I don’t have a dealer in my state (Arkansas). Ordered it through dealer in OK city .

Any help much appreciated !!!!

The key and the car have to be introduced to each other. There is a little dance they have to do.
There are several videos or step by step instructions on how to program a new key to the car. Just google "How to program a key for a MINI Cooper".

2nd gen minis don't need that dance just insert and go. There are three scenarios where the fab isn't recognized. 1- they just sent you a blank fob without programming it. 2- they programmed the to an already occupied slot. 3- the car might have a donor CAS/DME set.

I agree with MiniToBe, best to see if you can use WinKFP or the like to check all module's VIN assignment. Very likely your EWS/CAS/FRM has a "YYYYYY" instead of VIN.
