Failed Crank Pulley

Failed Crank Pulley
I've owned my 02' r53 for just about 2 years now, lately has been showing symptoms of what I believe to be a faulty/failed crank pulley. Low and behold car went into limp today and threw a P1688 code with all the typical symptoms; battery light, rough idle, etc. My question is for people with experience with the M7 overdrive pulleys, 0%, 2% and 4%s. Curious if it would be safe for me to install one of these over an OEM item or one of the liquid filled/ATI aftermarket cranks. Also been meaning to upgrade my supercharger pulley to a cravenspeed 15% or 17%, so now I atleast have a reason to do it sooner rather than later. Any help/guidance would be appreciated for replacing and upgrading my mini. Thanks all.

I used a 15% supercharged pulley with a 2% crank pulley had the car for four years without any problems just sold the car last November I have a brand new Kav's 3 kit new in the box never got install if you are interested

I think general consensus is that as long as it's actually dampened it's okay. The 2% overdrive alone is fine, for all intents and purposes. Just remember that you don't want to overspin the supercharger as it's not the most efficient and will put out a lot of heat. I think a 15% is recommended in conjunction with the overdrive pulley.

I also threw a 1688 code, along with the 107 code in my R52 the other day.....I researched and asked about the SFI dampers and the overdrive crank pulleys.....general consensus was that the fluid dampers will save yer engine bearings from rapid wear.....and any supercharger pulley above 15% with a stock size crank pulley will cause excessive heat in the intake system
I have the 15% pulley with a stock OE damper on my R53.....really woke that little car up, no other mods to the engine
Turns out that my 1688 & 107 code wasn't a broken damper on my R52 JCW car.......problem was as failed MAP sensor......

Um boys...the ATI is NOT...a fluid damper. It has four (I believe) Elastomer o-rings. No liquids what so-ever. Can be rebuilt at home.
The "Fluid Damper" is the only damper that has a viscus fluid in it. It's a silicone material as I recall. Cannot be rebuilt (if required) at home.
And yes both brands are very good products and are NHRA/SFI approved, if that makes any difference.
I like the ATI better for a few reasons.

We never recommend any brand lightweight non dampened pulley as they are hard on bearings, oil pumps, and effect the tuning.
I do always recommend the ATI damper, and even run it on my personal car and race car. They always fit perfect and they work the best as we can just see the car idle smoother after install. They are also lighter than the stock damper so the engine does rev slightly faster too.
We keep them in stock as I feel like I do one a week.
