2009 JCW timing chain
2009 JCW timing chain
Wifes 2009 JCW clubman is dead in water. Timing chain!! The closest dealer is 350 miles away. Mini USA customer service wants us to trailer it to dealer for inspection to see if they will help with repairs. Car has 45666 miles on it and has been to dealer twice for timing chain/tensioner inspection. Last time 20000 miles ago they said it was in spec. Car is used as her work car (high school teacher) and serviced by local import (BMW specialist garage) every 3000miles. We bought the car new. We were aware of class action suit but car has timed out of that.
My question is if anyone has had any luck with MINI USA helping with repairs since class action expired. I don't want to trailer car 350 miles for little or no help, as I would rather have local guys do work if I am going to pay for all or most of it. The local shop (PDQ import repair) is very good and reasonably priced.
Any thoughts ???

Hi, I am across the pond so know nothing of class actions BUT as this is an interference engine, you probably already know that the chain might have taken out a couple of valves when it died and perhaps some piston damage. You really need the BMW dealer and MINI US to give you a definitive answer before you do a round trip of 700 miles for nothing. Not much help, sorry.
