Head Lights different colors???

Today I was looking at new rims and had 2 different guys admiring the car

One of them wanted to see the lights on. When I turned them on I walked around front and we all noticed how my left headlight is actually slightly yellow while the right one is perfectly white?

What gives? Do I have a bad bulb? Did my poor Mini get in the wrong line when they handed out the Xenon Head lights?

Am I crazy?? Well that is actually very stupid question. Of course I am but has anyone else noticed this?

Chris

Are they both aligned properly? Sometimes when one is aimed a bit too high it will appear to be whiter because it is shining directly at your eyes rather then down towards the ground.

This seems rather odd , have you checked your bulbs? I doubt you have one xenon and one non-xenon unless one of them has the built in lens washer on it. Checking them is the only other thing i can think of if its aligned properly.

I've got the same problem with mine, my driverside headlight was replaced under warranty, as I drove off I noticed that the new light was slightly (but very noticable) yellow. My service advisor said that the bulb needs to "burn in." Its been about 3 weeks now and it is still yellow. A bit less then the first day but still noticable. I am planning on calling about it tomorrow.

The car is only about a week old with 1000 miles on it.

You can stand 2 feet from it looking down at the lights or ten feet away looking more straight and it still is yellow.

When I bring it in for service in a few weeks I will see what they say.

I do have the wiper washers.

I too had one of my xenon's replaced by the dealer and there was a color difference. After about a month I changed it and discovered that mini is replacing the bulbs with another manufactures brand.

That would be the difference...specs per brand of Xenon bulbs are not the same from manufacturer to manufacturer...but Custom, yours sounds like a different story since you picked your car up like this when new from how it sounds...perhaps the batch they put in your car was a pile that had different supplier's Xenon units/bulbs mixed in with all the rest? Could be....good luck

Tony.

Tony,

What is funny is that I finally got my appointment(after waiting 3 weeks) today to fix some minor things as wellas the light issue and they looked at it and said they couldn't see anything wrong. They also told me, on xenons as a whole, that the bulbs do have a break in and sometimes take a while to appear as their full bright white....

I'll give it another 2 months and if they still seem off color on one I will make them replace them both.

More times than not, mechanics will usually tell you they don't see or hear anything wrong, and who knows, maybe they didn't...but good luck on getting that issue resolved...it would irritate me as well.

I, too, had a xenon replaced. While the old one seemed to shine the color I was used to, the other had a slightly more green/yellow tint to it. It's been about 3 months since the replacement, and I do believe that it does get better. I park up against a newly painted white brick wall and they are matching better now. FWIW, the color difference was really only apparent when up against the white wall, illumination at a distance was not a problem at all. I'm sure that's partially because of the color bleed when the two light mix, but the functionality was still there. I'm pretty ****, so I noticed it right away, I'd give it a little more time though.
