Squeaky Clutch Pedal

2006 MCS

When I engage the clutch it squeaks like a cable or something is dry and it's a bit annoying.

Where do I lubricate the cable?

What sort of grease should I use?

It has no cable, as it is hydraulic clutch actuator. It is most likely the shaft in the car, that the pedal is anchored to. Some lube should fix that!

As has been answered, it is hydraulic clutch with no cable. I suggest you listen to it carefully with the engine off to pin point the source of the noise. It could be the bushing for the pedal pivot but most modern car has plastic bushings which less prone to squeak. It could be the clutch mechanism in the bell housing, which can be bad news for you. With a helper would simplify locating the source of the noise.

Thanks man --- yeah it sounds like the squeak is coming from the slave cylinder area but I deffo need to get a helper and try to isolate exact location. I wouldn't be surprised if the clutch is on the way out as I'm pretty sure it's still on the original...

...but at the moment that issue is on the backburner because I still have the bubbles in coolant issue. I haven't been driving the car much at all and count myself lucky that the fans are working properly and it hasn't exceeded 110C.

I've replaced the thermostat + housing, and the radiator.

This week I'm off work and currently waiting on parts so I can dig in and change the water pump as I strongly suspect o-ring failure --- while I'm there I will do a s/c oil service, new crank sensor o-ring, new tensioner + belt, and new major hoses.

There was a thread recently about lubing up the contact points at the pedal, but yours is more likely inside the engine/throw out bearing.
