start/stop button

I have been lurking around the forum, and searching things for about a week now trying to learn from the posts and fix my flooded '12 R56.

Anyway, i stumbled onto a old post that a poster said if the start/stop button is held down for 30-60 seconds WITHOUT the key fully pressed into the ignition the car will start. Assuming this is for a fail safe for ignition issues. So my question is have any of you tried this? I'm thinking i am having a ignition switch issue, and would like to confirm that it does or does not work for when i get a chance to give it a try later today or sunday.
One poster (who i sent a PM) said it took 11 seconds of holding it down for his to start.
I would guess the clutch will need to be depressed while its being held in, but i don't know for sure.

If you have tried this, or do try this will you let me know how long it did take for it to start?

I just wanted to post a update. I tried the start method. It did work. I placed the key in the slot but didn't push it in place. Pushed in the clutch and held down the start button and about 10-12 seconds of holding it down the car fired right up
