Headlight level sensor

All, I was recently under my 2004 MC40 and noticed that the headlight level sensor has come into contact with the emergency brake cable (see attached pic). The contact is so strong that the plastic arm on the sensor is bowed a bit and makes me believe that it doesn't move freely. I do not see a way to modify/move the sensor (the mounting bracket is stationary) in order to eliminate the contact with the brake cable. It doesn't appear that moving the arm to the other side of the cable would free it up either. I will say that I've never noticed my headlights self-leveling (only had the car 4 weeks) and maybe this is the problem. Has anyone else run into this and, if so, what is the solution? Thanks.

The cable on mine routs the same as yours -- just by the inside of the plastic upper arm, but falls short of making contact. Either way, I don't think it's a big deal, as the upper arm is just an anchor for the lower arm (connected directly to sensor) which does all the pivoting.

Was your observation as well as the photo taken with the car jacked up? If so give the matter a thought.

With a little more exploring, I found another thread that mentioned contact when it was off the ground but no contact when it was on the ground (suspension compressed). Makes sense to me even though I still haven't noticed the headlights self-correcting. Could be a damaged sensor on my MCS though. I doubt it's ever been replaced. Thanks, all.

The photo I submitted was taken with the car on the ground.

Not sure you ever notice the self-correcting of the headlamps other than when one first starts the vehicle and the headlamps "initialize" and dip downward, then upward into position. With the vehicle under way, methinks headlamp movements are barely, if at all perceptible. If you really want to know if the sensor is bad, unplug and check resistance with a multimeter.
