RevMax Valve Body

My son I have reached 158,000 miles on an 06 Mini S and the ASIN auto transmission has begun to act up. Mini says replace the whole transmission for a mere $6K. My local trustworthy transmission shop says they can repair it with a new valve and the part itself would be $2,200. I notice in searching the threads that several people have mentioned using RevMax valve bodies to solve their auto transmission problems. I'd like to know how prevalent RveMax is as a replacement valve body and what fellow Mini owners feel about the quality of the parts. My local tranny guy will put it in for $600 but says since its a rebuild, he won't guarantee anything. What has your experience been with RevMax?

You need a second opinion.

Stealership will say get a new transmission, which is $6K. I suppose I could find a second transmission shop.

Was it new or a rebuild? If a rebuild, from whom?

FWIW, there have been a number of positive experiences on revmax valve bodies. The new valve body fixed their transmission issues.

The guys on rennlist, specifically the cayenne forum have been having similar transmission shifting issues (hard shifting 2-3-4) as the cayenne/touareg/Q7 all use the same Aisin transmission.

These adjustments might help with any shifting issues if Revmax doesn’t give you any instructions: https://www.sonnax.com/tech_resource...n-fwd-6-speeds

It worked!

Had the RevMax valve body installed and the transmission works perfectly. I was warned that it would take a little time for the tranny to "learn" my driving style. In regular mode the tranny works perfectly. With shift paddles or use of gearshift, the transmission does need to learn your preferred shift points. Overall, this was a great decision. I used Whitcraft Transmission in Reisterstown Maryland and I can't say enough good things about them - they were reasonably priced, honest and quick.
