2007 MCS Temp Sensor Signal Error

We pulled the motor to replace my daughter's clutch. Now we get a CEL showing code "2F19 - Coolant Temperature Sensor, signal".

I've changed the sensor and the connector (thinking I pulled a wire or something during the removal?) but no joy. The light comes right back on after clearing the code and the radiator fan goes to HIGH mode even when cold.

So...
1. What should I check/fix next?
2. Is it safe for her to drive in the meantime?

Thanks.

IF the "coolant temperature sensor" is the same thing as the "engine temperature sensor" referred to in my Bentley manual, pin 2 goes to ground (as indicated) but pin 1 doesn't connect to pin 32 in the ECU connector like Bentley says it should. The wire colors don't match (Bentley vs actual), so I'm wondering if they are 2 distinct sensors.

This may help. Had the same issue and dealer fixed it under warranty. But I understand there is a whole new type of temp sensor available. Not sure what the details are on that.
