Antenna base weatherstripping
Antenna base weatherstripping
Hi all,
i found out today that a piece of my weatherstripping around the antenna base has fallen off exposing some of the base behind the weather stripping. I was wondering if this is a reason to get a new antenna base or would i still be ok in terms of water getting in when it rains. I live in california so dont have to worry about rain for a while but i was just curious if the water can get to the inner wires this way. Thanks

If it leaks, you're probably going to ruin your headliner with a water stain. Removing the antenna is a pain, You have to partially remove the headliner to get to the nut holding it on. If you try to remove it by just pulling the headliner down you'll probably end up with a permanent crease in the headliner under the antenna. You could always just make your own gasket out of vinyl or rubber if you're handy. Good luck.
