a gap in the windshield weatherstripping

I just noticed while washing my car that the weatherstripping that runs along the top of the outside of the windshield is no longer flush against the roof of the car....there is a gap that catches rain water..you can push it flush down against the metal but then it pops back up again....no leaking yet that I can see...anyone else run in to this ??

Time to take it in for repair--the next thing that happens is it comes loose when you're driving!

Mine was actually off for a while before I reinstalled it myself...doesnt have anything to do with holding in the windshield, and there's no leaks without it, but its getting ready to come loose, and it does so while you're on the freeway!

Same issue here on my "03", I was driving to Orlando and when I looked up through the sun roof I saw it flapping in the wind. Sean in At Downtown Mini Replaced it and said it was a common issue. He said there was no danger of leaking, it was cosmetic. No matter two months later I was replacing the windshield.

It's happened to me several times and in fact has done so again in the last few days .Jmoser mentioned repairing it ,what did you use as an epoxy to get this puppy to stay put?( I too am due for a new windshield(#6!) so I'm not likely to make a trip to the dealer to have this fixed in the meantime.I was thinking five minute epoxy?

In fact that is what Sean in Orlando said, he put the black goop in to hold it better. I Mini's have a trim issue anyway, my "05" has some loose molding in the rear that I will be visiting my dealer about.

I have the same problem in my '03 MCS,my dealer told me to leave it and they will try to fix it,but if they have to replace it with the "new design" molding the windshield will have to come out. What's up with that?

I did get mine replaced a month ago...they told me they wouldn't know if the windshield would have to be replaced until they got into it....apparantly sometimes they can do just the moulding...in my case, they said the windshield split anyway while they were working on it so I got a brand new one....they did a great job, would never know it had been worked on, except now the few chips and lil scratches I had are gone...I like having a new windshield!
