2009 cooper S issue

hi everyone,

yesterday i I was driving down the highway when the truck in front of me had a tread separation on one of its tires, as the tread flew of the tire it came back at my car and hit the front by the license plate and went underneath my car. It banged around underneath and flew out of the back and I was on my way. Later as I was off the highway and stoping at lights I noticed what I thought was steam coming from the front of the car. When I arrived home and parked the car I turned off the engine and went to look at the front to see if I had any damage. My license plate was bent and there were some scratches but that was it. The only other issue I noticed was a hissing sound coming from the front bumper by the radiator. I let the car cool off a bit and opened the hood but found no leaks. There are no leaks underneath the car but it still had a hissing sound like something that was under pressure was escaping through a crack. This morning I checked and still no fluid on the ground, there seems to be anti freeze in the tank and when I started the car the noise was gone I assume because the car had not warmed up yet.
Does anyone have any idea what could be going on or where I should start in trying to diagnose the problem.

thx

That explains the "hissing" sound. That debris probably damaged the AC lines which are extremely vulnerable underneath the engine bay. Might want to take it somewhere to have it thoroughly inspected as the coolant hoses are just as vulnerable under the front bumper.

Not sure what your insurance deductibles are but that might fall under comprehensive coverage. The tire flew from the truck, was still airborne, and it hit your car, right?
