How to Remove Stock Drivers Cushion? 05 Stock Vert

Hi,
The stitching has come loose on one of the drivers seat cushion, seams on the cushion ( part you sit on.)

The PO did include a new OEM replacement seat foam. So prior to going the $550 to $700+ route of buying a new complete OEM replacement I would at least like to give this a try.

So bottom like has anyone removed just the seat cushion and has anyone done a URL or a how-to in this? I know its a good idea to remove the battery battery and wait a bit prior to dissembly make sure that there in no surprises from the airbag..

Guess my bottom line is can the cushion be removed with out taking the whole seat assembly out of the car? Also just from general reading it looks like the seat assy is mounted on wasted bolts? Anyone have the PN for those..

Again the cushion seam's looks to be perfect and the original holes are there, the problem us that the stitching has just gone bad over the years.

Seat is blue leather with I believe sunrise stitching (orangish) and defiantly not the other color stitch (white) that was offered for the blue leather seat for that model.

Next ?

Any trusted breakers/salvage companies on this site? I would also consider just buying a complete used cushion?

TIA

Notice that it says "Required Preliminary Work" - remove front seat. IIRC you have to get at the edge of the cover where it butts up to the center tunnel. Taking out the seat is the easy part!

Upholstery work is not hard but you need the right tools and materials. Sewing seams can be done by hand but it isn’t easy and you have to know how to sew the correct stitch. Hopefully it’s just the thread that broke and not the leather. As I say, can’t isn’t for n my vocabulary. Never fear not succeedIng the first time.

Exactly. Just remove 4 bolts and unplug the connectors. You have a convertible, and it's especially convenient doing work in the interior with the windows and top down.

The official instructions say to replace the bolts, but I didn't and probably most DIY owners reuse the old bolts.

Yeah its just the thread that has gone so all the holes are intact. Its my GF car so it will be her call on what rouse to take. I know trying to find a complete good condition seat from a bone yard would be a major hit or miss and many times with dealing with them online what you actually get is not what they told you ;-)

I believe those bolts are made to shear in the event of accident, reusing them would not be a good idea. But its the owners call,
