Door Locks Not working with Key or remotely

Hi folks,

So.... My (car) battery died and now I can’t get my key to either unlock the doors remotely OR manually with key.

No clicking, no nothing. I press remote buttons and get nothing. I put key in door and turn right or left, nothing. No locks, no windows down, nothing.

Central Locking wasn’t working when I discovered this problem yesterday - until I put the new battery in, took it a few minutes and then began working again.

I have two keys, neither work. Both have good batteries).

I’ve tried this (Eventhough this doesn’t work on cars with my build date):

I’ve had the issue where the key no longer remotely locks / unlocks - unfortunately that meant a new key / programming from BMW.

But for it not to lock manually?

Actuator must be good because Central locking works fine.

2004 (build date 9/03) Cooper S

Any ideas before I take it to the stealership with the idea of a reprogram?

T

The "battery" is the car battery and the key fob battery correct?

Updated to specify CAR battery, not key battery.

I stopped by Ferman BMW IN Fort Lauderdale today and they reprogrammed my key so now I can use the remote buttons to lock / unlock (windows up / down etc).
However, i still can’t manually unlock the door with the key.

Man, a simple dead battery can cause a real mess in these cars.

This makes no sense....

Thinking that if the key is not working than something is broken on the inside of the door.

This is a Gen1 correct, 02 to 06 (07-08 verts)?

2004 S build date 9/03

I’m gonna be pulling the door panel next week to check the lock stuff and see what’s going on in there.

Is there a separate hook triggered by the key cylinder, because using the door handle pulls the lock up and works fine and I know there’s a hook connected from handle to lock.

I rarely manually lock / unlock So maybe something happened and I never noticed it?
So weird.
