-3an oil line sufficient for remotely mounting sender?

I want to remotely mount my aftermarket oil pressure sender and was wondering if -3an is a sufficient diameter to bring oil to the oem sensor and my aftermarket one. Thanks.

When I asked Autometer about remote mounting my oil pressure sender they suggested the -4AN kit. Product # 3227.

that's a very interesting question . the madness adaptor comes right off the ports for the adaptor . the ports are fairly big coming out of the block; right after the pump . reducing this diameter along a length of hose may give a false pressure; but you could take that as a given and use it as your base line anyway . once you know what it reads at cold and hot and normal then as long as it holds the pressure all that matters is if it should drop suddenly .like normal . my cooler hoses are like an-8 or 10 . but like i said the gauges go right to the port . i used to know this stuff from hydraulic elevators; i'm gonna say maybe the pressure is the pressure regrdless; but if you were trying to lift with something smaller in diameter then the pressure would be more . i'll be checking my books now lol .

PRESSURE IS JUST THAT & THAT ONLY. IT'S CONSISTENT ; 8mm 0r 24----------VOLUME is the diff & in this case NOT applicable. 1/4" copper tubing & a couple FLARE ftg adapts and your home!! NO "compression" ftgs--- you MUST have a flaring tool-----cheap is ok for this size / application------fishead # 1

I just got around to buying a 3ft -4an autometer kit. Do I need to prime this line at all? Wouldn't the oil pressure just push air towards the sender if it isnt primed?

It will read ok even with air in it. If you really want to you can crack the line with the engine running and when you get oil you've bled the air out. I think Autometer recommends -4 line because the fittings are more readily available and will be a bit cheaper. The ID of the line really doesn't matter as it is only dealing with pressure and not volume or flow.Remember the gauge kits of yore? the plastic tubing included was 1/8" ID,about the same as -3 brake line.

Cool. My setup is going to be:

Block > 3/8m to 1/8f > 1/8m to -4an m > 3ft -4an hose > -4an m to 1/8f > 1/8m to 1/8m > 1/8f to 3/8m > 3/8 T w/3f > stock pressure sender on one and aftermarket sender on another with 3/8m to 1/8f
