Timing Chain on R50 Mini

Hi All,.

I am replacing the timing chain on a my Mini base model and I have the cover loose but cant get it past the water pump pully. Removing the water pump is a bigger job than taking the chain cover off. Is there a way to do this without taking the water pump off?
Thanks,
Gary

Take the bolts on the pump loose. It's not worth damaging the pulley and having to replace the pump. That's how I do it in my shop.
