Leaking fluid identification help

Hi guys,

car is having trouble shifting esp on cold start. There is fluid (oil or coolant?) on the transmission bell housing and other areas? I've been told the MINI ATF is red so I don't think its that? No check engine light, only fault i get is "EGS Steptronic Switch not found" Car is 2010 Cooper S Auto

Oil level is good.

thanks for the help!

it could be from replacing the oil filter.
it could also be from the oil filter housing, or the vacuum pump.

clean the area and recheck for wet spots.

Is the black thing the oil filter housing?"

If the vacuum pump o ring is leaking would that cause automatic tranny shift problems?

The oil filer housing is under the vacuum pump towards the front.
the transmission shifting could be a coincident. Although you might want to check the condition of the ATF. How many miles do you have and was the ATF serviced?
I personally havent seen trannys leak anywhere other than the drain plug or the the pan. Yours look dry, right?

My guess is the turbo oil lines. Clean the oil up and look for oil closer to the front of the engine and less near the oil filter itself. Then Vaccum pump and the oil filter gaskets, they connect between the engine and the filter housing itself.
