Question on front end grease service?
Question on front end grease service?
Hey all;
After a cold 4 months I went to drive my 2009 Clubman S and after replacing the 5 year old battery with a brand new one I took her out for a little run. Now the front end is tight as a drum but as I went down the street upon turning the wheel I hear a noise on the front right side. It is not a grinding or clicking sound more like a rub or a spring creak ,mind you she has not been driven in 3 or 4 months.My question is : does the R55 2009 clubman S have front end grease fittings and could it be that I just need to grease the joints ?
I don't want to open up the door to a dealer wanting to tell me I need a major front end job. She has 118000 miles of only street and highway driving. Mechanic checked front end less than 500 miles ago and said all was perfect.
Any help on joint maintenance would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks Bullstone.

There are no grease fittings anywhere on the car. You should jack up the front, remove the wheels and see if you can spot anything. Might be as simple as a small rock stuck in the brakes, but it's prolly more serious. Brakes, wheel bearings etc...
Big Jim : Thanks for the reply, breaks brand new ,not a winning noise .Seems to be a joint or strut noise. May be if I drive it will work its way out,Like I said the car has been sitting for about 3 or 4 months. Do you recommend any areas to spray lubricate ?
Thanks Bullstone

Noisy (squeaky) rubber bushings deteriorated or dried out from age and non-use can be quieted down (aside from replacement) by spraying them with a product called "Fluid Film". Supposedly a product called "Ru-glyde" also works, but it did not work for me. Fluid film did. Spray the rubber bushings liberally so they're dripping, and drive around immediately afterwards to work it in.
