2005 comprehensive component monitor failur
Hello everyone! First time member posting. First owner 2005 Mini is an ongoing nightmare. 129,000 miles. Started last July. CEL on, misfiring. First mechanic German cars specialist replaced coil, spark plugs, fuel injectors, removed carbon build up from valves. Drove home, CEL back on, misfiring less than a mile from shop. Returned car, they replaced fuel pressure regulator. CEL on, running like a champ. 2nd mechanic BMW Mini specialist replaced fuel pump and relay. 10 miles down the road, CEL again. Returned car, they replaced drive belt and tightened loose belt tensioner, which was the CEL culprit. Everything awesome! Mechanic told me to drive up to 50 miles before I went in for smog registration. Did 150 miles - city, freeway. Smog mechanic checked 4 monitors first. Comprehensive component not clearing. Back to shop, had MAP replaced. Cat converter and 02 plugs are fine. Been to smog twice in 30 days, comprehensive component still not clearing. $3,100 in parts /labor since July. So, now what? Waiting to hear from mechanic the next step. I love my Mini, but not the decreasing monies, nor increasing gray hair. Motor on, Mark.
Going to move you to the Stock Problems/Issues area.
Where are you located as it sounds like the shops you went to might not have been as good as they think they are. Next, suggest you read Item # 27 in the below thread relative to drive cycles.
