New to the site, I Just purchased a 2002 Mini R50. It was not running when I bought it. After going through all the possible issues I checked the status of the DWS on INPA and the Immobilizer is engaged. I tried to reset the Immobilization seed but an error saying that it cannot communicate with the unit pops up. It will communicate with the ECU but nothing else. I made sure that pin 7 and 8 are bridged on the OBD II still no go. Could it still be the cable or could the software that I received with the cable not be complete? If the software is not complete, does anyone have a known good software? I have tried a few that are out on the net but they do not have a selection for R50. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I doubt that INPA is the problem, if you can read the VIN number from the ECM, you should be good to go, it could be that your EWS is dead though.

If you cannot access any other modules then the problem is the cable, it needs two pins jumping together I believe 7 & 8 from memory at the OBD. These options will only work if you can access the second K line.
