I need some help and i figured i would start a new thread. I have a 2004 chili red cooper base with the dreaded midlands gearbox. On new years eve, it decided to die. I am tight on cash and as this is my daily driver i am desperate for help. I know i should just upgrade to the getrag 6 speed, but i dont have the money for it right now. I am trying to source a 5 speed midlands that works to pop back in. I live in the Charlotte, NC area and need one ASAP!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Enter your car's MY, model and see if a suitable transmission/trans-axle pops up.

If not you might have to check Mini salvage business more distant from you to see if they have a suitable used transmission.

 

Might find it in some salvage shops and on some used car parts junk yard sites. I know big ones are in Cali and outside NJ/NY area

 

Going to move this to the Gen1 Stock Problems/Issues area. Have you checked out the marketplace here for any R50s that area being parted out?
