New Cooper S owner here wondering what maintanence should be done

I recently purchased a 2005 Mini Cooper S with 86,000 miles on it. Curious as to what I should do for preventative maintenance on my part? Im having the timing chain checked tomorrow to see if it was ever replaced.

Go visit the Gen 1 section, there are tons of threads discussing maintenance scheduling. I've contributed my share of wisdom to the discussion.

Hello, SteamDiesel! Here is a Service & Maintenance schedule that you may find helpful. The list may not be complete as service items may have been added by the factory since this list was created.

Timing Chains on the Gen1's are pretty solid. Unless you hear rattling, I would spend time on checking other items, Struts,Strut Mounts, LCA Bushings, Inner Ball Joints. These cars are notorious for leaks, you won't see oil on the ground, just look under the engine to see if it's dry. Enjoy your R53
