2004 Mini Cooper S Won't Go Above 2,000RPM

I was on my way home from work tonight when all of a sudden my car wouldn't let me go above 2,000RPM after I turned onto my street. Keep in mind it was snowing all day and I was a mile away from my house. When it happened there was no indication that let me know what the problem was. No EML or audible noises from the car. The car ran and sounded the same as usual. It also doesn't seem to have power under load. This happened out of nowhere and I don't know what to do.

probably crank damper failure 2004 may have the newer style so it's really hard to see if it's failed I had to get under the car and inspect it there. Mine did the same thing, power normal until 3000 then it would slip. Got worse and worse on my limp home

Going to move you to the Stock Problems/Issues area.

Even thought you had no EML, did you check for any codes? Sure sounds like limp mode.

Very well could be a crank pulley. Time for an ATI damper.

The car will still rev to redline if the crank pulley is failed, are you sure that DSC wasn't trying to control wheel spin?

If the car doesn't have power, has a battery light, or is starting to over heat it could be a crank pulley issue. Do you notice a burning smell, like rubber?
