I just noticed that I now only have a hole there where before i think a reflector was.
What is the part number and why is it red on some and white on others?

<'05 - white reverse light
>='05 - red = rear fog (reverse lamp moved to the tail lights)
black = no fog
BUt not quite cause you can mod a white reverse light to an 05 or 06 for more back up lght

I thought the changes were made for the 04 model face lift? Along with the new gatlin gun xenon headlights and taillamps w/o the big orange circle/reflector in the middle.

Yep, changes were mid '04, but I'm pretty sure they called them MY05.
that happened for the 05 models.
you never had it... you have to order it (either prior to delivery or added after)
Neither.
You had the black blanking plate.
You can either:
1) get a new blanking plate (dealer, or beg one from someone who added the rear fog)
2) experience automotive nirvana, get a new toggle rack with the rear fog and add it. Depending on the build date, you MAY have the wiring already tucked up behind what is now the gaping hole in your bumper.

A rear fog light mod is a good idea, when it is rainy, foggy that rear fog light is sometimes the only thing you can clearly see on traffic ahead. I have had RFL's on several Volvo's and my current Benz and it's nice safty item to have. They are manditory in many euro countries (if not all) and I wish they wouldn't make that an option, it should be standard (IMHO).
BTW glnr13- Road or MTB (I noticed the Lightspeed sticker)?

BUt remember on the other side of the pond they only use them in incliment weather not all the freakin' time like too many of the ignorant US drivers, I've been behind cars with a rear fogs on clear nights and it was more hazardus blinding the cars passing than saftey of being seen.

The difference, is that over the pond they'll flash you MERCILESSLY if you have your rear fog on when it is not supposed to be, such that even an American dolt (oops, that was me
) can figure it out. "So THAT is what that little button was for?!" I'm not sure if the issue here is ignorance or arrogance - likely a combination of the two...

04 was the last year of the old body style. 05-06 was face lifted... aka gatling gun headlights/rear fog replacing the back up light spot.
I used to race as a Pro MTB for Litespeed many, many, many years ago. The last few years though I rode mostly my Litespeed Ghisallo road bike and my Litespeed Blade TT bike. The mountain biking stuff will now start again for me now.
