clear the codes and see if they return...make sure your fuel cap is tight and dont fill gas while car is running (if you do that, if not, ignore )

you need a scan tool that can clear the codes. you may get a universal one so you can use it on other cars.

It can clear itself but only when it goes through a cycle of maybe 35 miles. We wanted to clear it by scan tool to see if it comes back or new codes come out.

The check engine light cleared while driving it to BMW this morning after making sure the gas cap was tight a couple days ago after filling up. Hopefully this was the issue.

After taking it to BMW today for an oil change and check out they tell me my left rear taillight assembly needs replacement costing 250 and i have a small oil leak (location added later once i go pick it up). I don't understand how i could have a leak if i have no evidence of it on my garage floor. Do these cars have common leaks?

Also going to try to fix the taillight assembly myself later today. Looks like a burn mark around where the bulb seats could be the culprit from what the service guy said. I can probably clean it to make better contact.

If a small leak, may not make it to the garage floor. And yep, Mini's are known to leak in a variety of places. Did they tell you where it is? Chances are it'll get worse over time, pay 'em now or pay 'em later..

They said drive train area but didn't specify lol.

Another thing I noticed is when i accelerate in overdrive up a hill or on the hwy i get a Smokey engine smell through my ac vents.

The intake for the ac is below the window wipers correct? What would cause this? Gasket on hood looks just fine.
