Anyone know the coolant capacity for a R56?

A credible one? Like from Bentley or Mini (don't say look at the owner's manual because mine doesn't have one)? Poking about the net, I find everything from 5.2 gallons to 6.4 gallons listed, and, of course was we know you can't just measure it as there is always a lot of undrainable mix left

Reason I need to know, i d that after draining the coolant I got carried away and did a distilled water flush. Then it dawned on me that unless I knew how much straight water (as opposed to coolant mix) I'd added, there was no way to calculate how much coolant to add - I can't just fill it up with 50/50 the way I would do it with a completely drained system, since without tanking the flush water into account it would end up being short. But guess and it could easily end up too high, which Mini tells us is also bad.

no idea if it is or not, just solving the problem of OP not having a manual. it's a PDF so a simple search will take seconds.

sorry, i'm more than a little annoyed at the lack of info in the owners manual.
The specifications do tell you "number of cylinders = 4".

I think you read quarts instead of gallons. From memory it was about a gallon and a half total. One gallon of Mini coolant 50/50 with a gallon of distilled water is more than enough to do the job.

that's what i did, after flushing with distilled water and draining, i just barely got a gallon of the blue in. I can appreciate that the op is after the actual spec though. If you live in Siberia or something you might want to get the mix exactly right.

Bentley manual, 1st edition, pg 020-23, Cooper is 5.3 liters (5.6 qts) and Cooper S is 6 liters (6.3 qts). Use a 50 - 50 mix of distilled water and ethylene glycol-based antifreeze.

Cooper S . 6.3 quarts = 1.575 gallons.

+1 50/50 mix with distilled water.

Max sure its the MINI blue color coolant.

When you do change it , you will have to bleed the system several times to get all the air out.

Not if you have a UVIEW vacuum coolant refill tool!

Old thread, but since I'm flushing my system too, decided to chime in. You don't need to know how much you've drained after a distilled water flush. All you need to know is the capacity of your system, and add a half of it as coolant, and the rest with distilled water.
