I need help! 2005 Mini Cooper S
This is my 2nd mini and my 1st supercharged mini. The car has 150,000 miles exactly. The guy who owned it has put a ton of money in the engine. Anyhow, I've got a million questions but the one I'm mostly concerned about is, can I check supercharger fluid without taking it off? I'll post pics later when I get home but I can't see any signs of leakage and I'm not sure how a supercharger sounds when low on oil. I can post a vid to if that helps. You can literally eat off of this engine. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this community so be patient with me. Thanks again.
This link sells a mod to check the sc oil: http://www.imperialmini.com/
As was already stated; you can't check fluid level without removing the charger from the car, and at 150k miles I would probably take the PTO housing cover off and inspect the rear gears for wear, and if there is even oil in the rear housing.
If you're going so far as to take the charger off to check fluid level you might as well just drain and refill it to proper spec front and rear.

It's not leaking any fluid. I've never owned a supercharged car. I don't know what half of that stuff is on the engine. Can someone tell me if those aftermarket parts are good?

The vibratechnics mount is a really good mount. Looks like an Alta pulley, but I can't read the percentage on it. I see a Webb Motorsports badge on the cam cover. I think Randy Webb was a vendor here in the early days of NAM. Maybe a long time member can give some info on him and his company.
The upgraded aluminum coolant tank means you won't have to worry about the stock plastic tank failing in the future.
Any pics of the interior, brakes, or suspension?

Yeah somebody sunk a lot of money in this car. I traded even a 97 Jeep Wrangler TJ for it.
Use whatever brand of synthetic oil you like, as long as it meets the spec: BMW Longlife-98 (BMW LL-98), or BMW Longlife-01 (BMW LL-01), or ACEA A3/B3 (according to my Bentley manual) which is equivalent to API SJ/CD, EC SAE 5W-40 or API: SJ/CD EC-II (according to the API website).
The last one, API, is the one you'll most likely see on the bottle: SJ in that little circle emblem. Available everywhere.
I'm pretty sure my Mini Cooper S plugs Castrol on the supercharger cover abut some other brand on the oil cap or dipstick or something. Marketing dept got confused, and who can blame them?

I've been talking to Randy Webb on Facebook and he said he put good quality parts on the car and he's glad to hear that it's still doing good.
