Illegible radio display

Turned on my 2013 Mini Coop S this morning and this is what my radio display looks like! Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Anything I can try to fix it or am I looking at an expensive trip to the dealer?

Pretty sure something is "broke" when a display looks like that....bet the fix will be a new/different unit.
Sure a dealer can do it....but the better Indy shops can likely do the swap too for less.

Suddenly. Car recently had maintenance 2-3 weeks ago. No major problems.

Hopefully, you still have remaining warranty in play on that 2013 MCS. Mine, which originally went into service as leased vehicle May 2013, would be covered on such an apparent failure. That, plus additional warranty year being purchased as CPO 2 months ago (a major consideration at price point vs older with higher mileage).

Good luck and please let us know the outcome...

Not sure it will help but maybe disconnect the battery for a bit and see if it clears?

Thats good, I have never seen it do that, so it was a connection error or computer error. Most of the time when i see a messed up display its this:

Where the dot matrix on the screen starts to fade like an older BMW display.

I have the same display problem and fixed by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. It really safe my day. The dealer asked for $1700 to replace the radio unit.
