Pulled this out of my valve cover today, not sure what it goes to. any body have an adea of whats broken now?

 

Not 100% positive, but it looks like part of the timing chain guide may have broken off.

 

Ran across THIS thread (from 2010) last night, whereas one of the broken parts is a direct match to one of the parts you dug out of your engine, so yes, it's confirmed to be part of your timing chain guide rail.

It's doesn't seem to be a common problem. I wonder if a failed timing chain tensioner could cause this?

 

You should not drive your car till you get that fixed.
You are looking at a broken timing chain guide. That probably occurred due to the timing chain tensioner failing. What your are not seeing is that there are probably many more little pieces of plastic shrapnel that are in your oil pan and are now sucked up into your oil pickup screen starving your engine of oil.

I get the pieces falling to the bottom and into the oil pan, but... "Pulled this out of my valve cover" ?

Okay, if he had is valve cover off... fine... but if not? How would you "Pulled this out [a] valve cover"

 

The piece spun-up with the rotation of the timing chain. It happens, replace both chain guides, timing cover, high/low oil seals, and the front seal. I replaced my son's timing chain since I was in there.
