Opinion on timing chain

Hey guys,
I was talking with a friend of mine who has a Nissan Silvia with SR20DET engine and apparently there was a TSB from Nissan to remove the upper guide rail to prevent it from snapping.

So my question is, what is the purpose of the upper guide rail on the N14? What would happen if you ran the engine without the upper guide rail? Could this be a potential remedy?Thoughts please!!

No , its part of the T on the timing chains and cannot be removed to run , when they snap or break the timing chain goes and skips a tooth.
