Nm Engineering Springs

Hey guys, I've had the NM Springs on my car for about 6 months now, love them! Except for one thing. When accelerating slowly though 2nd year I have this very noticeable shake in the front end. I don't want to bring it to the dealer for them to bark at me about the lowering Springs so I figured I would ask everyone else if anybody has had any similar problems.

When did you notice the shaking?

you won't get "shaking" from the springs. That is likely a tire out of balance, bent rim, or maybe even warped rotor (if only during braking)

After the spring install. No bent rims or rotors. Shakes on acceleration in second and a little in 3rd. At the bottom of the Rev range.

Everything is balanced properly. I only noticed the shaking after the spring install. Everything is tight and installed properly as far as I can tell.

Did you get a four wheel alignment after the springs settled?

I'd have the dealer check it out. I doubt they will give you any grief over the springs.

With shaking on acceleration ......Is the shaking in rhythm with the tire rotation speed? Do you feel it in the steering wheel? Does it feel like its both sides or just one? Knowing a lowered FWD car can put added strain on a CV joint, do you have one going bad? Just a thought.

It only does it in second gear.. Sometimes a little in first before it shifts into second. Doesn't do it if I have it floored, only during casual acceleration. Doesn't shake or have any other steering issues at all. I feel like it might be getting worse. To the point where when people ride in my car it is mentioned haha.

My F55S does that after my NM spring install. I also noticed when taking a turn at the right speed, it feels like the chassis is "bouncing" in the progressive part of the spring rather than the large coil part. I've experienced this before with progressive springs. But not the acceleration thing. Oh and I have the EDC option if it matters.

NM springs came with a plastic around the top coil portion of the front springs only. I wanted to know if it's just there to protect the paint during shipping, and if it should be removed prior to install.

Thanks

No. Those are insulators for when they are installed and the coils rest on each other due to the progressive windings. So leave them on.

Yes,

And when you done it will set like this. Does not matter if you have DDC ( EDC) or not.

When I'm stopped or moving slowly and turn the steering wheel (as if to make a u-turn), I hear and feel a very slight clicking. I have NM springs and don't remember if I experienced this with the stock set up.
