Not starting, power to the pump?

So my car is intermittently not starting. I have the pump cover open in the back seat. There is no sound or vibration feeling the pump when the car is not starting. I have a new pump so as an experiment I plugged the new one in outside the tank and tried starting. No signs of life from new pump. Am I right that it should have powered up?

How do I track power to the pump? What pins on the pump connector should be powering up? Where else could this be going wrong?

I have an 06 mcs. Where is the pump relay? Don't say it's the big green one in the cabin fuse box because there are no accessible relays in my cabin box. See example box in link below
http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f26/...85/index2.html
Is the relay under the panel? Did it move? Is it solid state now?

I only have issues in the morning if that means anything...

Check fuse F20 in the left kick panel, it's a 20a fuse.

The fuel pump relay is the bottom green relay in the left kick panel, that is the only relay for the fuel pump.

Replace the fuse at F20 with a new fuse if it's failed and try your new pump again, don't try it with the old pump as you may end up blowing the fuse again.

Switch the fuel pump relay with the relay above it and see what happens, it's not often relays fail but I had a relay burn out when the fuel pump in a customer car was failing.

Believe it's in the passenger compartment fuse box - F20 20A K96, Fuel pump relay 1. If needed for any other fuses/relays etc., this thread here has all that information (I believe it's for a 1st gen, but could be wrong).

As I stated in my original post the fuel pump relay is not accessible from the cabin fuse box.
In early models it was located in the bottom right corner where I have a big blank spot. I even linked to a similar post on another forum asking about this. I even asked that nobody post the location in earlier models

Okay, so how early of a build date is your car?

Early cars had an inertia switch in the driver cowl area that needs to be manually reset if it's tripped.

Also I guess this is temperature or humidity related as the car has so far 'healed' itself later in the day. whether starting fine after 9:00AM or now more like after noon. I tried hitting the fuse boxes, fuel pump, and a few other random parts with a hair dryer to no affect.

Update: F-ing Mini
They soldered the fuel pump relay directly to the circuit board. I'm not the only one this has screwed

I'm not sure if I hope this is my problem or not. It's going to be a pain to fix or it's a hole new fuse box.
