How much PAG oil goes into the r55/r56 AC system?

If any of you have ever had to remove the engine out of your Mini, you'll know that you have to pull the entire bumper off. This means you have to pull the condenser off. When I got this car, it appeared that someone started doing this already, and the car had no freon in it at all. I didn't want to take chances and went ahead and flushed the entire system with AC flush, and drained the compressor. Now comes the question of how much PAG 46 oil to put back into it? I've been told everything from 1oz to 6oz. I only got about 50-60ml out of the compressor, and every dealership says they have no idea how much oil goes in, as they only use their machines to add/remove oil and refrigerant. So does anyone out there have any idea how much PAG oil to manually add to the system?

Found this thread here with some good info. Maybe it'll help you narrow it down a bit. Last poster said about 3.2 oz for them.

Thanks for posting, but I believe that's for the previous model Mini. I found that the previous generation listed the oil capacity, whereas the new gen (N12/N14) don't. I called several dealerships in the country, and none of them could tell me. They all say they hook it up to a machine that automatically adds freon and oil as needed... w/e that means...

Yes, thats all I could find, the unit / parts does not say how much oil on the sticker. If i find it i will post up.

The manual does not state the amount.

Im wondering the same thing. I flushed my entire system and installed a new condenser so I have no oil left in the system.

like this:

The new SANDEN AC cmpressor from ECS tuning has less than 5ml of oil in it.

This site says 4oz for most systems. https://www.aa1car.com/library/pagoil.htm

This guy says about 4 oz per pound of refrigerant. PAG per pound refrigerant.

ALLDATA says nothing. I dont know why this info is so hard to find.

I could only get 3.5 ounces into the compressor. Any more than that and it would burp out of the high pressure hole (small hole). Apparently their is an oil fill port. Found this out after the fact. I assume all compressors have an oil fill port.
