Fuel System Monitor Bank 1 fail
Fuel System Monitor Bank 1 fail
Check engine light came on a couple weeks ago. Bought an OBDII scanner to check it out, since it did cause very slight power loss during moderate acceleration.
Code was P129E - Manifold Absolute Pressure Minimum Pressure Implausible
I ended up clearing the code and it hasn't come back. Chalked it up to cold weather. Anyways...
I ran a Test with the OBD Torque app and have 2 failed tests:
Fuel System Monitor Bank 1
Min: 1,033.7. Max: 12.7.
Current: 2,073.6
Manufacturer defined MID
Min: 8,273. Max: 1.
Current: 31,984
Beside those two failed tests, the engine does make a rattling/vibration noise (almost sounds like a diesel), when driving around 2K rpm when it's cold (only happens about 25% of the time). Doesn't have the chatter at idle that is normally associated with the timing chain.
Also there is a slightly higher pitched vibration noise when cruising between 3k and 4k rpm. Even when not cold. Can't tell if it's from the engine itself or the engine bay somewhere. Hopefully it's more of just a vibration rather than an engine issue.
Anyone have insight on any of this? Mostly the Fuel System Monitor Bank 1 failed test?

Fuel System Monitor Bank 1 fail
Hey Garconis,
I just picked up a used MCS 2008 R56 85k miles.
I was researching the same failure codes and your codes are almost identical to mine. I haven't had a check engine light but my Torque OBD11 app shows the same failures in the fuel system.
Here are mine:
Fuel System Monitor Bank 1
Min: 1,033.7. Max: 4.7.
Current: 2,073.6
Manufacturer defined MID
Min: 8,273. Max: 1.
Current: 31,984
Did you ever find out what this issue is? I'm loving the car but a little nervous after finding these failures.
Hoping it's nothing to worry about.
Cheers

Dealer said those were nothing to really worry about, as it's really wrong with the car -- since there is only so much the OBDII can check compared to the actual MINI diagnostics too. Or something like that.
The noise I was having was the timing chain destroying itself just like last time. I'm beginning to not care as much, as I'm looking to sell the car. Every time I get one major thing fixed, another one creeps up a few months later.

Fuel system.
Thanks for the reply and putting my mind at ease. Sorry to hear you keep having issues. I love the car but I'm a bit worried. Saying that I traded in my vw gti due to never ending check engine lights. Hopefully this will be better!
Good to know. Was thinking of getting a GTI within the next couple years.
