OH NO!!! A Cracked Windshield!

For the past three weeks my foot has been in a boot cast (stress fracture). I'm able to take it off to drive but have not been driving much. My wife has had full access to the keys.

Yesterday she says "guess what happened...we got a crack that is spreading across the windshield."

Great; just what I need. I've driven almost 17K miles in the 03 MCS. I've read all the posts about the lousy windshields. But I was convinced that I would be able to escape the inevitable...until yesterday.

So I went out the the garage and checked it out. I couldn't find a thing. "Where's the crack? I don't see it."

"It is on the passenger side," she responded. I looked again, but no sign.

"There's no crack on the MINI."

"Not the MINI...it's on the MONTANA!"

I've never been so happy about a cracked windshield.

thread moved to Beneath the Bonnet

this thread probably belongs in OT:A, but to help preserve the punchline, I'll leave it in Beneath the Bonnet.

My windshield has 18,000 miles on it, and has acquired two sizable impact craters from rocks. Somehow (mercifully), neither has spread into an actual crack. Lots of pitting, though. It's a shame MINI stuck such a great car with such a crap windshield.

What's a Montana? I think it's a minivan, but not sure...
