Cheapest/easiest glovebox latch fix?

Having a friend of mine work on my car, as I'm not the most mechanically inclined. Probably selling the car in the future as moving out of the country, and need to get this nagging issue fixed.

Has anyone found a reliable, cheap fix for the broken glovebox latch? Trying to avoid replacing the whole glovebox, as the cost is just not worth it. Thanks in advance.

Slam a piece of fabric in it...
Every "broken" item is different...look at it..
You might dream up a jurey-rigged fix...
But getting a glove box for $50 from a car getting parted out is less effort...

I vote wedge in closed and let the new buyer know. There's nothing more crappy than finding a ghetto rig after the fact.

We have the box here if you do need a new one so its functional. Also letting the new owner know helps. Here are some parts list.

MINI wanted like $500 for a new box, I picked one up used in the marketplace for something like $70. Buying a used entire unit is the way to go IMO.

If anyone wants a broken one to try to figure out a cheap fix, I'll sell mine if i can find it

Found some options where you install magnets. I'd try the foam piece, but the hook part is actually what broke off.

If I go for the magnet option, does anyone have advice on what to buy exactly?

The guy in this video mentions cabinet magnets:
