Can anyone confirm that the notoriously difficult to fix glove box on the mini can now be ordered as just the latch? I have read posts and they all say that the dealer only part can only be ordered as the whole glove box, a costly fix.

The mini dealer on the east side of town says that you need to order the whole glove box.

We have a new mini dealer on the west side who says he can get just the latch. So why am I asking? Because a) it appears too good to be true and b) this dealer doesn't have a reliable reputation yet (it has been open for less than a week)

Anyway, I figured I would post to get the answer as well as to help so that the answer becomes searchable for others looking...

 

Look up REALOEM.COM...skematics, parts numbers, etc..
If the part is available as a separate part, the number will be shown...if a unit...then it will show it.
One word of warning...
Most newer dealer know next to nothing about gen1 cars they never sold or serviced them under warrenty....

 

Not that I know of. Maybe they are talking about the top separate part of the latch, which is the catch.
