Not starting!!! Turns over but doesnt fire up.
I have a 2002 R53, i parked it up last night at 7.00pm no problems. I tried to start it again at 11.00pm and nothing.
It turns over but doesnt catch. When i put the key in to start it i cant NOT hear the fuel pump whirling as i could before. I have recently put coilovers on so wondering if that could have anything to do with it? Anyone know of anything i can check before i get the AA out? It isnt throwing up any codes.
I have had new plugs in recently so it could be the coil pack. The car turns over but doesnt catch so thinking the battery will be fine?
I could also of sworn i heard some beeps the first time i tried to start it like parking sensors or warning bong noise (This could well of been me making this up in my head as i had just woken up from a nap lol)
I was thinking because iv had coilovers on recently i could have knocked a fuse or relay out of place as i have hit a couple of pot holes.

Perhaps your fuel pump has died, but you may not be getting spark as well.
Think of what you need to start the engine:
Starter - yup - working
Spark - check/charge/replace battery* How long ago on the new coil pack/wires? Any rain or moisture recently?
*batteries that aren't 100% can cause loopy things to happen. Just because it will turn over the starter, doesn't mean it's got enough juice for the rest. If the battery is found to be not up to snuff - be aware that your alternator may be next (as they're kinda like Siamese twins)
Fuel - if you don't hear the pump priming when you first put the key into the "ON" position that's an indicator that it's not working.
Could the "beeps" been from when you brought the key close to the coloumn?
Buuuuttt.... my guess is the battery

2002 cars are a bit different...
I believe 2002 is the ONLY year that SOME cars got a fuel pump cutoff switch/sensor in the engine bay....
Near one of the strut towers... Maybe it was tripped when you did the coil over install?? Maybe a HUGE pothole...but would expect a busted rim if you hit that hard...
Cranks but no start right? No sound from the pump?
Can you hear a "ding" when your key is first put into the ignition...the keys are chipped. And the ding means the ews(antitheft) has read the key...
I'd check for the switch, and try another key...

Thanks for updating the thread with your solution. Lots of threads sometimes go unanswered and when people with similar issues stumble upon them, they don't get a definitive answer. I just wanted to add to the fuel pump symptoms for anyone who runes into this issue. If the pump is noisy, and making loud clicking noises, then chances are that the bearings inside are worn and should be replaced. If the pump continues to make noise even after the ignition is shut off, internal check-valves in the pump may be showing signs of failure. The pump could seize up at some time, or the pressure to the fuel injection system could drop. Either way, the car will not be performing at its peak. Another symptom of failure is the pump getting stuck, and then finally kicking in after turning the ignition on and off a couple of times. This could be a clear sign that you are living on borrowed time, and that you should replace the pump immediately. Check the electrical connections to the pump before you replace it to make sure that it's not an electrical problem. This and lots more information, including a step by step process for replacement can be found HERE.
